Episode 150 - THE VAKA FOLK MUSIC WEEKEND

Today, RÚV English looks ahead to next week's Vaka Folk Music Weekend.

The Vaka Folk Music Weekend started in Akureyri in 2015, and was held in Reykjavík for the first time in 2019. It is a weekend dedicated to traditional music and the communities around it.

Vaka is a 3-day celebration in the capital, that brings together the essence of Icelandic heritage through the enchanting melodies, vibrant rhythms, and timeless stories of folk music. 2023 marks the event's full, post-Covid return.
