Today, RÚV English Radio is in Kópasker, in north east Iceland.
Snartarstaðir is home to Byggðasafn Norður-Þingeyinga (North Þingeyjarsýsla Regional Museum) (https://www.husmus.is/en/snartarstadir), in Kópasker.
The museum opened in 1991 in the old schoolhouse and holds more than 2,000 objects, although collection began in 1950.
The exhibition also houses the 9,000-volume library of Helgi and Andrea from Leirhöfn on Melrakkaslétta.
It is only open generally before mid-August, and for groups at other times - but you get your own private tour today from Þorsteinn Gísli Jónsson, who guided Darren around the museum.
RÚV English Radio is heard around the world and in Iceland, celebrating Icelandic culture, art, music, language, and much more.
