Early voting facilities at the capital region’s Kringlan and Smáralind shopping centres began yesterday ahead of the Alþingi election on 25th September.

They are open seven days a week from 10.00 to 22.00 until Friday the 24th September, and anyone registered to vote in any region of Iceland can use them.

On polling day itself, when polling stations are open all over the country, only the Smáralind early voting station will be open, and only for people registered to vote outside the capital region.

Other early voting options

Early voting is organised and operated by Sýsmlumenn (district commissioners) and began on 13th August. Voting at the capital region Sýslumaðurinn offices stopped yesterday with the opening of facilities at Kringlan and Smáralind.
