New in Iceland is a recently-opened service centre designed to assist people who are still adjusting to life in Iceland. The service is open to everyone and aims to help answer questions on almost any topic.

New in Iceland is available in Arabic, English, Icelandic, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish and offers help and advice by email, telephone, or by personal appointment.

The New in Iceland website says: “We can assist you with finding answers about: the labour market, health system, education, social insurance, legal registration, housing market, domestic violence, social assistance, taxation, financial issues, family related issues, and many more…Just let us know what your question is!”

New in Iceland was set up by the Ministry of Social Affairs following a parliamentary resolution made in 2019. All services are confidential and free of charge.
