Last week the District Court in Reykjanes found a man guilty of cannabis cultivation in large amount and moonshine production in an industrial house in Hafnarfjörður. The man was sentenced to two years in prison. He plead guilty and confessed to working alone.

In the warehouse police found over 27 kilograms of marijuana, 114 grams of hashish, nearly 9 kilograms of cannabis stalks, 50 cannabis plants, nearly 900 grams of amphetamine, and 53 litres of 14% mash. Additionally, police confiscated equipment used in the plants’ cultivation, phones and large amount of cash.

The case begun in April when the man was arrested together with his partner. The woman has been released after a hearing. The time the man has spent in the arrest will be considered into the sentence.

As the cultivation was well organised and the amount of drug significant, the court decided that the sentence cannot be suspended. The man’s confession was though considered. The sentence may be found on the Court's website.
