The lava field, formed by the latest eruption at Holuhraun, north of Bardarbunga volcano, now stretches over an area of 3 square kilometers (1.2 square miles). Its volume is estimated at 16-25 million cubic meters.
The eruption, which started around 04:00 GMT Saturday, is a calm lava eruption with no ashfall. This video, by RUV cameraman Tomas Gunnarsson, was recorded at the eruption site Monday morning.
