Advent service for mourners, with English subtitles
A time of music, thoughts, and reflection for those missing loved-ones in the run up to Christmas. Sigríður Thorlacius, Sigurður Guðmundsson, Matthías Stefánsson, and Hilmar Arnar Agnarsson perform the music. Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, President of Iceland, gives the address, and Agnes M. Sigurðardóttir, Bishop of Iceland, closes the service. The introduction comes from Rev. Guðrún Karls Helgudóttir. During the service, people are asked to show support by lighting candles to create a wave of affection and solidarity in difficult times. The service is a collaboration between Sorgarmiðstöð (charity for mourners), Landspítali national university hospital, and Þjóðkirkjan (the Church of Iceland).
