The two-year-old boy who was this week admitted to intensive care as a result of COVID-19 infection has now been moved to a normal children's ward and is on the road to recovery.

The boy does not have underlying health issues but suffered a bacterial infection on top of the coronavirus infection. He was moved off intensive care yesterday afternoon.

The toddler was the second child in Iceland admitted to hospital because of covid since the pandemic began. The first was a teenage boy, also admitted this week, but not to an intensive care ward.
