The flow rate and depth of water in the Skaftá river system continue to decrease as the glacial flood subsides.

Flow at Sveinstindur was 280 cubic metres per second at 07.00 this morning, and had reduced to 150 cubic metres per second in the town of Kirkjubæjarklaustur.

The data suggest it is now somewhat unlikely the flood waters will flow over the Route 1 highway, which remains open as usual.
