Around 35 percent of people in Iceland have either travelled abroad already, or plan to do so during 2021.
The poll was conducted on behalf of Fréttablaðið and the results are covered on the paper’s front page today. According to the results only seven percent of Icelanders have already travelled overseas this year, but a further 28 percent plan to do so.
At the same time, 57 percent of people plan to spend the entire year in Iceland and nine percent are as yet undecided.
People aged 24 to 44 are the least likely to travel abroad this year, while people who plan to vote for Viðreisn (the Reform Party) are the most likely to travel, compared to voters of other parties.
