Mountaineers preparing to reach the top of K2 believe they have found the bodies of the three men who perished on the mountain at the beginning of February. Their names were, John Snorri Sigurjónsson, Ali Sadpara and Juan Pablo Mohr.
The three men started their ascent to the mountain top on February the 5th along with Ali Sadpara’s son but never returned.
After a long wait and a complicated search, they were declared dead two weeks later. A search for them earlier in the summer was unsuccessful due to poor weather conditions.
The first body was found early this morning Icelandic time. It is believed to have been the body of John Snorri, but it couldn’t be confirmed because the body was facing down and covered in ice. The second body, that of Ali Sadpara, was found around noon Icelandic time and the third body was found later that afternoon. The website Explorers Web received these reports from people stationed in the lower camps of K2. The bodies were found by Sherpas who were securing ropes on the mountain.
