No new coronavirus infections were diagnosed among the Icelandic Eurovision delegation, it was confirmed yesterday evening. Test results took 30 hours to arrive after one member of the country’s delegation tested positive on Sunday. The affected individual is not an on-stage performer.
All members of the Icelandic team will be tested again tomorrow morning and Thursday morning, and if the same result is confirmed and nobody shows any COVID-19 symptoms, then Daði og Gagnamagnið will be allowed to perform for judging panels on Wednesday evening, and in the second semi-final on Thursday evening.
Felix Bergsson, head of the Icelandic delegation, told RÚV TV news that the infection stands as a reminder to everybody that it is still important to be careful, even though the pace of vaccination is picking up. The whole team were vaccinated before heading out to Rotterdam last week.
