Daði Freyr Pétursson has received a silver disk from the UK, commemorating the fact that last year’s Eurovision-song-that-never-was, Think About Things, has sold more than 200,000 copies in Britain.
Daði Freyr thanked fans on social media with a picture of the iconic silver disc award from the BPI (British Phonographic Industry).
Think About Things became a worldwide hit, despite the lack of a Eurovision Song Contest last year; largely because it spawned an online dance challenge where people filmed themselves imitating parts of the distinctive dance used in the video and live performance. Possible to choreograph and film anywhere, it was the ideal pandemic-proof internet craze.
Daði Freyr and his band Gagnamagnið are representing Iceland at this year’s Eurovision next month in Rotterdam, with the new song 10 Years.
