A man aged around 40 was late last week sentenced to 21 months in prison for attacking a woman in her twenties and throwing her off the balcony of a second-floor apartment in the Breiðholt neighbourhood of Reykjavík two years ago.
The man was arrested at the scene and the woman was taken, seriously injured, to hospital.
The court charges against the man confirm that the woman suffered concussion and two fractures to her lower jaw. She also suffered a broken hip and teeth.
The woman claimed 7.5 million krónur in damages from the man. The court ordered him to pay her four million.
The man was held in custody for a time after his arrest and that will be subtracted from his sentence.
