Most of last night’s weather warnings expired this morning, but new ones lie almost immediately ahead. The south-westerly stormy conditions could last all the way into Sunday.

The capital region, for example, is under a yellow weather alert from this morning until 05.00 tomorrow morning (Friday), with winds of 15-23 metres per second and hail or sleet. Roads and paths are expected to be slippery and visibility poor. Similar conditions are expected in South Iceland, where the weather alert runs until 08.00 tomorrow morning.

There is an orange weather warning in effect for Breiðafjörður and Faxaflói from midday until 23.00 tonight, with winds of 18-23 metres per second. Driving conditions will worsen throughout the day.

A yellow weather alert will cover the Westfjords from 10.00 until 03.00 tomorrow.

Northwest Iceland and Strandir will have their warning until 08.00 tomorrow.
