Think About Things, the not-quite Eurovision song by Daði & Gagnamagnið, is featured on Time Magazine’s top ten best songs of 2020—a rundown of the songs the world played again and again this year.

The list also features the likes of “Little Nokia” performed by Bree Runway, "Back Door" by South Korea’s Stray Kids, and “WAP" by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion.

Daði Freyr’s song is described as an earworm: "A warm, loving slice of electropop, with a slinky synth line, catchy chorus and groovy bass”. Think About things should have been Iceland’s Entry to the Eurovision Song Contest this year, but instead comes in at number six on the Time Magazine chart.

The magazine says that after being a frontrunner for possible Eurovision victory, the song took on a life of its own when the competition was cancelled—not least because of the dance challenge set to the tune that spread rapidly on social media during lockdown. The song “hits the right notes” far beyond Eurovision, the article claims.

“People I’ve Been Sad” by Christine and the Queens tops the list. The song was written last year by Héloïse Letissier after the death of her mother.
