For the second day in a row, a COVID-19 patient in Iceland has died. It is the 13th coronavirus death since the pandemic first hit the country at the end of February. 42 new cases were diagnosed within Iceland yesterday—22 of whom were already in quarantine.

No cases were diagnosed in border testing yesterday, though ten recent arrivals from earlier in the week are still waiting for antibody test results to determine if they are still contagious or not.

Around 2,000 tests were processed yesterday, which is neither an unusually high or low number.

Iceland’s 14-day infection rate per 100,000 people has now dropped to 211.1 and appears to have peaked around 12 days ago at 291.5.

62 people are receiving treatment in hospital for COVID-19 at the moment. Two are in intensive care, including one who is on a ventilator.
