Dozens questioned over fatal fire
Fréttablaðið reports this morning that capital region police have started interrogating the man suspected of deliberately starting the fire.
The man in his 60s also lived in the house. He was remanded in custody on 26th June and will remain behind bars while the investigation continues, until at least 6th August, under order of Reykjavík District Court. The fire is being investigated as premeditated manslaughter.
One of the four survivors who needed hospital treatment remains in intensive care today. The other three have been discharged.
According to Fréttablaðið, the interrogation of the suspect has been delayed by several weeks because it has not been possible to talk to the man due to his mental state.
Investigation at the scene of the fire is now over, but lab results from samples taken have not yet come back. No charges will be laid until results are confirmed.
